The proposed master plan seeks to create a vibrant and active neighborhood that celebrates the culture, the heritage and the people of Bronzeville and Chicago at large. The framework establishes a set of rules that will ensure that all developments on the site are focused on the public realm, human scale and interconnection between spaces. This strategy is meant to activate the ground plane and all areas of the site
This project unlocks the site by keeping trucks at grade level and creating platforms at +24ft and +32ft to create a visual connection to Lake Michigan and Burnham Park. This design intervention establishes a strong physical connection to the Michael Reese proposed development, 31st Street and the larger context surrounding the site.
